HOT LIST
WHAT WE'RE OBSESSED WITH THIS WEEK
By MAXINE SHEN
RAAKHEE MIRCHANDANI
1 "Rob and Big"
MTV's newest reality show, "Rob and Big," rooms pro street skater Rob Dyrdek with bodyguard Big Black ("400 pounds of straight meat and cheese"). Watch the truly odd couple buy a bulldog, pick up chicks and shave back-hair when the series begins Thursday at 10:30 p.m.
2 Ranting and raving
New York DJ RevoLucian's turned Barbra Streisand's recent "Shut the f --k up!" outburst at the Garden into the new Howard Dean Scream. The dance-tastic song is downloadable at myspace.com/revolucian.
3 Drinking games
The New Yorker Cartoon Caption Game wasn't made for boozing, but for blank New Yorker cartoons in need of one-liners, we suggest working a little vodka into your house rules.
4 Big 'Feet'
"Happy Feet" may be a kids movie about a tap-dancing penguin, but its soundtrack (out Tuesday) is fully adult. It features new songs by Prince, Pink, Patti LaBelle and k.d. lang, and there's also a mash-up between stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
5 New Jersey
Is the Garden State the new Chelsea? It just might be, since a judge ordered lawmakers to guarantee same-sex couples equal marriage rights.
6 Face paint
For lazy, un-creative types in search of a fabulous Halloween idea, head over to MAC counters and have pros put on a new sexy or scary face for you. Check out the options at maccosmetics.com.
7 'Evil' song and dance
With songs like "What the F--k Is That?" and "Do the Necronomicon," "Evil Dead: The Musical" is just as campy as its cult-film inspirations. It's also just as gory: Seats in the "splatter zone" come with raincoats to repel the sticky red stuff flying off the stage. Opens Wednesday at the New World Stages.
8 Horrors of the saved
Instead of skeletons and ghosts, "Hell House," a recreation of an evangelical Christian chamber of horrors, shocks with rape and botched abortions. Ending tonight at St. Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO.
9 Cat fights
Menacing model Naomi Campbell was arrested in London for clawing her drug counselor. Why don't her minions take pre-emptive self-defense courses?
10 Much music
It's music galore when the CMJ Music Marathon hits town. Beginning Tuesday, 1,000 alternative and underground acts (that all the cool kids will be talking about next month) hit 50 venues over five days. Check out the line-up at cmj.com.
