I know this sounds ridiculous, but you have to go see "Evil Dead: The Musical". I was scared it was just going to be a silly camp romp but it's funny as hell. The play incorporates elements from all three "Evil Dead" movies but you don't have to have seen any of them to get into it. I was mainly concerned with how they were going to handle the infamous and disturbing "getting raped by trees" scene from the first film - I mean, really, how do you possibly make that funny? But rather then edit it out completely there's a scene that gives a tiny, subtle nod to it but remains totally goofy and fun. (I know how that sounds but trust me). The theater ushers hand out Gallagher-style rain ponchos to the people sitting in the first three rows, since fake blood sprays all over them during the raucous slaughter finale. If I haven't sold you yet, just remember you can drink beer in the theater and they play AC/DC during the intermission. And be sure to play close attention to Brandon Wardell, who plays the Horny Asshole role. He's ridiculously hot in an awesomely sleazy way and in his spare time he fronts a Guns n' Roses cover band. Ladies, you can't go wrong.
